Recall on Ryobi 4.0 A-h Batteries

Ryobi Recalled Battery

Based on 4 reports of overheating enough to cause damage, Ryobi’s 18v lithium-ion 4.0 Ah battery packs (model number P108, part number 130429028) have been recalled.

The problem appears to be when charging the battery, at which time “the battery pack can overheat and burst… posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.”

The batteries were sold between September and December of 2012, and were only sold separately – not as part of a kit. It appears the problem is fairly minor, as the recall solution is to send back the batteries so they can repair them.
