Milwaukee announced the imminent release of their new compact cordless impact wrenches, coming in March 2013.
The 18v wrench will offer 200 ft-lbs of torque (that’s 2400 in-lbs to us impact driver guys). As part of the M18 FUEL line, they have brushless motors which offer less internal friction, allowing for longer tool life and increased power.
The impact wrench has 3 modes of operation, very similar to their M18 FUEL impact driver, to allow the same tool to be used in more situations.
Sr. Product Manager for Milwaukee Tool, Tom Simeone, said “For example, a mechanical contractor may use Mode 1 for installing u-bolts, mode 2 for installing smaller couplings and mode 3 for installing larger couplings.”
The new wrenches are available in two sizes and three anvil style options:
- 2654: 3/8″ anvil with friction ring; Torque: 200 ft-lbs. / 75 ft-lbs / 30 ft-lbs
- 2655: 1/2″ anvil with pin detent; Torque: 210 ft-lbs. / 120 ft-lbs / 80 ft-lbs
- 2655B: 1/2″ anvil with ball detent; Torque: 210 ft-lbs. / 120 ft-lbs / 80 ft-lbs
